Following the change of government in 1997, Sir Rodney moved to become chair of UK Sport up until 2002. During his time as chair, the government changed the regulations governing the distribution of Lottery money to enable UK Sport to become a distributor of funds which enabled the organisation to set up the World Class Performance Programme which over the following years has seen the growing success of the UK’s sportsmen and sportswomen.
