Sir Rodney accepted the invitation to become chair of The Yorkshire Society in 2019. The society promotes the county as a place as a place to work and live and is responsible for organising the Yorkshire Awards Dinner, now in its 34th year. The event recognises Yorkshire people for their contribution to life in Yorkshire in a variety of spheres. The dinners have to date also raised some £300k for Yorkshire good causes.
